Coach Burnett

PGH BOX LAX is proud to announce that Coach Mark Burnett is the new Owner and General Manager!!                                              Bio-Mark Burnett:  Pittsburgh Box Lacrosse Owner/General Manager

    Mark Burnett grew up outside of Toronto, where he played lacrosse for Whitby.  He has been playing box lacrosse since the age of five. He has won four Ontario Provincial Championships, including an Ontario Summer Games Gold Medal in 2004.  He went on to play three years of Jr. B box lacrosse for the Clarington Green Gaels, with whom he finished as an Ontario Silver Medalist and won the Ontario Lacrosse Association Jr. B Defensive MVP award in 2007.  He then proceeded to play two years for the Jr. A Whitby Warriors, before advancing to play four years of Major Series Lacrosse (Sr. A) for the Ajax Rock and Oakville Rock from 2010-2013.  In 2011, he was drafted 53rd overall by the Toronto Rock of the National Lacrosse League (NLL).  In 2012, he played for the Charlotte Copperheads of the Professional Lacrosse League.  Since that time, he has served as the assistant coach of the Mooncrest Munitionz of the Interstate Box Lacrosse Association, who finished 3rd overall at the 2020 IBLA National Championships, and was a player for the same team in 2021.  

      As a field lacrosse player, Mark won seven Ontario Provincial Championships, as well as a Canadian U-19 National Championship in 2007. He played two seasons at Onondaga Community College, winning the NJCAA National Championship in 2009.  He later played and coached at Mars Hill College (NCAA DII) before moving to Pittsburgh.

     Mark has been with Pittsburgh Box Lacrosse since 2015 in a number of roles, from coaching to managing its various leagues and clinics.

FALL BOX LACROSSE IS BACK AGAIN in the South Hills at PrintScape Arena!!

BOX lacrosse leagues for MS boys, HS boys, and Adult men's will begin at PrintScape arena on Wednesday November 10th,  2021 and ending December 15th (Off the week of Thanksgiving.  We are featuring 30-second shot clocks, using US Lacrosse Box rules, experienced coaches and will have an EMT on-site for all games.  And, AS always, Goalies play FREE!!  (Goalies please contact pghboxlacrosse@gmail.com for "free goalie code". US LAcrosse membership still required for all goalies.)

PGHBOXLAX price per player for the five week session is only $125 for HS players. PGHBOXLAX price per player for the five week session is only $65 for MS and Mens league players.  In addition, a current USA Lacrosse membership is REQUIRED to register for any of the PGHBOXLAX  leagues.  USA Lacrosse membership rates vary due to age group.  Go here to find more info about USA Lacrosse membership: https://www.uslacrosse.org/membership

All PGHBOXLAX  HS league open teams are limited to 16 runners each per team (32 runners max total) and one goalie.  Our goal is to field evenly-talented teams to ensure competitive play each week.  Box goalie equipment will be provided.  USA Lacrosse Box/Indoor rules will apply with 6 v 6 play.  No cross-checking or boarding.  Games are 3 15 minute running time periods .  One game per team per night.  All players must wear full lacrosse equipment including athletic cup and mouth guard - rib pads and bicep pads are optional but encouraged for box lacrosse play.

Box goalie equipment will be provided. Modified USA Lacrosse Box/Indoor rules will apply with a 3v3 or 4v4 cross floor format. Games will be 2 12 minute running halfs. One game per team per night. All players must wear full lacrosse equipment including athletic cup and mouth guard - rib pads and bicep pads are optional but encouraged for box lacrosse play.

Wednesday evening leagues -

  • MS Boys PGHBOXLAX league ( current 6th, 7th, 8th graders) – MS Boys box league games will be played on five  Wednesdays from 7:00-7:30pm.  
  • HS Boys PGHBOXLAX league (current 9th  thru 12th graders) – HS Boys box league games will be played on five Wednesdays from 7:30pm – 8:30pm. 
  • Mens PGHBOXLAX league (Age 18+) – Adult Mens box league games will be played on five Wednesdays from 8:30pm – 9pm. 
  • Nov 10, Nov 17th, Dec 1, Dec 8, Dec 15
